Henfield High Street is the perfect place to shop with a huge array of useful, interesting and inspiring shops – and there’s no better time than Christmas to support your local high street!
Businesses in the village would like to invite you to enjoy an evening of shopping, music, food, entertainment and festive treats on Friday 9 December, when the High Street shops and seasonal stalls will be open from 5.30pm until 8pm for the late night shopping evening.
The whole street will be dressed in red, gold and green – our festive window dressing theme for this year. There will be a funfair and Father Christmas is planning to take a break from his busy North Pole schedule to visit his Henfield grotto and help Henfield Youth Club with their present distribution.
BN5 are running their Big BN5 Christmas Draw again – this year in aid of St Barnabas House Hospice. Last year we raised £2,000 – this year it’s going to be bigger and better, with more prizes including restaurant meals, beauty vouchers, ice skating and theatre tickets, shop vouchers, champagne and hampers donated by local businesses. We will have three Star Prizes including a spa day at Bailiffscourt Hotel! Tickets will be on sale throughout the high street on the run up to the event. Some local shops will also be ‘Wearing it Festive’ for St Barnabas on the 9th December.
There will be stalls in the High Street, delicious street food including Nonna’s Kitchen Italian food and Rushfields street food stall and a real Christmas Market feel with crepes from French Connection. Buy your Christmas cheeses from Village Larder and don’t forget the lovely charity Christmas cards at the St Barnabas stall.
Village Care will have a resident magician, there will be roasted chestnuts outside Jeremys, a lucky dip for the children at Henfield Funeral Services and the Jam Pot will be coming outside with drinks and chocolate treats. You can taste some delicious wines at Hartleys and White Mischief and Pinks Hairdressers will be out on the high street with their gorgeous Christmas gifts and treats.
At the Library they’ll have Christmas story time, mince pies and a giant book sale, do call in to Full of Beans round the corner for gingerbread lattes and hot chocolate. There will be lots of mince pies, mulled wine and other delicious treats at various shops in the High Street, to enjoy while you listen to the Christmas carols!
Young and old can join in the fun of the ‘Sheep Trail’ for the whole of December and help to reunite the shepherd with all his lost sheep, which are hidden in the shops and windows. More than 30 shops are sponsoring the trail this year with profits going to help children affected by the hurricane in Haiti.
This is your opportunity to meet your neighbours and friends, make a nice big dent in your Christmas shopping list while supporting your village shops. And don’t forget to visit one of our fantastic pubs to warm up and enjoy a festive drink or two later, at the White Hart they’ll be donating 50p to St Barnabas for every glass of Mulled Wine sold.
