Talk on Bolney Wine Estate by Alicia Sanderman: Bolney Wine Estate have been making wine since 1976, in beautiful Sussex.   Their aim is to produce top quality red, white and sparkling English wines.  They have achieved this, winning many international and national awards along the way.

a.m.  Car Outing to Bignor House Garden: Bignor Park, Pulborough, which is the home of Viscount Ned Mersey and his wife Clare.  Viscount Mersey will start with a short talk, then we will go on to explore the Zen pond, temple, Greek loggia and unusual sculptures, impressive Cedars, a rare Holm Oak and the spring flowers, which should be wonderful at this time of year.

Open Coffee Morning & Plant Sale, Henfield Hall Garden Room, 10 a.m. till 12 Noon

Do come along and find some plant bargains, and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee some delicious home-made cake. 


Wed 3rd May

a.m.  Coach Outing to Great Comp, Sevenoaks - the seven acre garden which reflects every season and in May the magnificent magnolias should be in bloom. 

p.m.  Emmetts Garden: a small but perfectly formed garden well known for its beautiful bluebells and spring colour. There is a meadow to enjoy, with time to sit back and relax.

Saturday only HGC Plant Swap/Sale, Henfield Hall:  come and find some interesting plants and bargains at our plant swap/sale.  We look forward to seeing you!


Thursday 15th June

a.m.  Coach Outing to Heathside, Cobham:  a 1/3 acre plantsman’s garden with interest all year. There is much to see including obelisks, urns, ponds and water features.

Break for lunch in Godalming then onto Chinthurst Lodge, Wonersh Common. A one acre atmospheric garden divided into rooms consisting of herbaceous borders, a dramatic white garden and plenty of interesting features to be seen.


Thursday 13th July

a.m.  Car Outing to Rymans, Apuldram,

The garden has a walled area surrounding a C15 stone house with roses, ponds, flowering shrubs with lots to hold our interest in high Summer.

p.m.  Cooks Croft, Earnley, nr. Chichester:  cottage style woodland and Japanese gardens, water features, borders of perennials, with a particular emphasis on unusual/ Southern Hemisphere plants. 


Evening Social venue to be advised

Summer Fayre, Henfield Common: we will be assisting in the judging tents.


Tuesday 1st August

a.m. Car Outing to Jacaranda, Ifold (part of the National Gardens open for Charity Scheme) 

p.m. Saffron Gate, Alfold:  A garden with many rare plants, many different types of clematis, lots of which are summer flowering;  integrifolia, herbaceous and different species, grown in many different ways. Traditional herbaceous borders, many varieties of climbers and a productive vegetable garden.

Afternoon Tea Social at Fairacres, Wychwood Lane, Shermanbury  - home of  a Henfield Garden Club member.


Wed 6th Sept

All Day Coach Outing to Wisley Flower Show:  so much to see and do, always a very enjoyable outing.


Friday 29th Sept

New Members’ Buffet Evening, Henfield Hall, Committee Room, 7p.m.  If you have become a member during the year, this is the evening for you:  committee members introduce the new members to each other in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.


Tues 3rd October

Celebrity Speaker, Roy Lancaster, talk on ‘A Plantsman’s Life’ – Members + Public.  Non-members will be able to attend what is sure to be a very interesting evening with Roy Lancaster, the television gardening celebrity.  Ticket information nearer the date.


Wed 11th October

Coach Outing:  a.m. For Autumn colour a visit to Andy McIndoe’s garden, Sandhill Farm, Hants:  the garden is around 2 acres in area, a sloping hillside on light, slightly acidic, sandy soil.  Naturalistic plants with meadow and a wide variety of trees, shrubs and perennials.   Terrace, small gravel garden and two ponds.

p.m. Hilliers Arboretum: the award winning Sir Harold Hillier Gardens is famous the world over and is run as a charity;  at this time of the year we look forward to the glorious autumn colours.
