Notes of the Month...
Weather prophets are sanguine about the coming Spring and Summer because they think we are getting our winter in the old-fashioned way and in the proper month. It is much to be hoped they are right, and certainly the keen winds of the last week of January should go a long way towards killing the Influenza Germ and other of his many companions. Some cynics say he is good at hibernating. The bright sun has made it all more bearable latterly and brought back a touch of cheerful hope into a very drab and anxious world. The subject of a War Shrine has been mooted. It is perhaps early days, but it is wise to begin to think about it. We want one worthy of the village. and in such a position that succeeding Henfield generations should be constantly reminded of those of her sons who willingly offered themselves, and in some cases laid down their lives in the cause of honour, freedom and home.
