Several of our tradesmen have taken or are about to take the patriotic step of joining up. Not under absolute compulsion but from a sense of duty. In doing so they sacrifice much. Mr Hallett is a case in point as he is joining shortly, although an appeal would very likely have deferred this.
The Confirmation Instructions are now in full swing, and have been for some time. It is hoped there may be between 50 and 60 candidates presented. An encouraging feature is the good number of lads who have come forward this year. There are also a fair number of adults being prepared. The Band of Hope made a very useful contribution of 15s. as a result of their winter work for the War Work Fund.
