As a result of the Last Quinquennial Report the PCC of St Peter's Church, Woodmancote has decided not only to carry out the renovation work required but also to take the opportunity of redecorating the interior walls and ceiling. This will mean that the church will be closed from Monday 18th September onwards. It is anticipated that the work will take between six and eight weeks. It has also meant the cancellation of the annual Woodmancote Harvest Festival service and Harvest Festival Lunch. However the congregation and choir at the final Mattins service on 17th September enjoyed singing harvest hymns as well as listening to the organ recital celebrating the Battle of Britain. The previous Sunday (10th September) the augmented choir led by opera star Sidonie Winter sang a beautiful anthem based on the prayer of St Richard of Chichester. Both services were well attended and the friendly congregation meeting over coffee afterwards all agreed that we are really looking forward to returning to our beautiful church later this year.
Once the work has been completed there will be a Service of Thanksgiving followed by a celebratory lunch at Terry's Cross.
