Y6 visit Henfield Haven – Well done to Olly, Billy, Marisa and Izzy for being our first volunteers to spend an afternoon working at Henfield Haven. They helped serve lunch and then entertained the visitors with a variety of activities
Y5 Isle of Wight Meeting – the information meeting for Year 5 Parents will be taking place on Monday 8th May at 6.00pm, here in school. This is an important opportunity for information about the residential to be given to Parents, so please do come if you are able.
After School Clubs – Please note that on Monday 15th May there will be no Eco club, Alaskan Rounders or Singing club. This is owing to staff attending locality meetings. Cricket, Tennis & French will be on, as usual.
Gardening Club – if any Parent/Carer has any seeds or young plants that could be used in the gardening club/ key stage 2 garden, they would be gratefully received, particularly vegetables or quick flowering plants.
Our website – we are aware that currently our website is not working. We are investigating the reason why, along with our IT provider and West Sussex County Council and hope to have it accessible again very soon. Should Parents/Carers need any information that would normally be available through the website, please do pop in to the office or email us email@example.com.
It is also worth noting that during the Easter holidays, our main office email address changed to firstname.lastname@example.org. At present any emails being sent to the old address are being forwarded on, however at some point it will not be operational so please do make a note and start using our new one.
Welcome Meetings – It has been decided that the ‘Welcome Meetings’ normally held in the first few weeks in September would be more beneficial if they were held before the Summer holidays so that Parents were aware of the expectations ahead for their child transitioning to a new year group. Therefore please make a note in your diaries of the following meetings:
Tuesday 18th July
New Y1 (current YR), 3.30 – 4.00pm
New Y2 (current Y1), 4.00 – 4.30pm
Wednesday 19th July
New Y3 (current Y2), 3.30 – 4.00pm
New Y4 (current Y3), 4.00 – 4.30pm
Thursday 20th July
New Y5 (current Y4), 3.30 – 4.00pm
New Y6 (current Y5), 4.00 – 4.30pm
Owing to the movement of these Welcome Meetings, the ‘Parent drop-in to meet the new Teacher’ planned for Wednesday 18th July has been cancelled.
Attendance – congratulations to the 98 children who had 100% attendance in the Spring Term. Certificates recognising this brilliant achievement will be coming home today.
House Cup - congratulations also to children in Phoenix who have successfully retained the House Cup for the Spring Term. The points were as follows:
Phoenix – 6690 Eagle – 5070
Kestrel – 5587 Hawk – 3831
Area Partnership Netball Champions
Before Easter the netball team took part in the Area Partnership Netball Finals at Worthing College. All of the competing schools had won their area tournaments so the standard was very high. The children played extremely well showing passion and determination, winning 6 games drawing one and narrowly losing one. I am proud to say that we finished as winners of the tournament and now go on to represent the area in the Sussex Games in June. This is a huge achievement for a relatively small school as we were facing schools with 7 and 8 form entries! Congratulations to the children for a fantastic result.
Fundraising - Many Parents/Carers ask how they can contribute to their child's education. One way is to use www.givingchildrenbooks.com/appeal/stpetersbookappeal which lets you pick as many or as few new reading books as you wish. A really good idea.
Another way is to use www.easyfundraising.org.uk. This site lets you continue with your purchases at Amazon or M&S or wherever and gives a small percentage to us directly from the site so this one is a no brainer.
Gate Lock – our playground gate (near the Leisure Centre) is missing its key for securing into the ground. Please could we ask everyone to keep a look-out for it and if found, return to the School Office. Thank you.
Finally, Jill Dyson, one of our Governors, is riding the London to Brighton bike ride on Sunday 18th June. All sponsors are welcomed with open arms! You can donate either through the www.JustGiving.com page and 'Jill Dyson's page' or just in an envelope when she has completed the ride. Ms Dyson is doing this in aid of undiagnosed heart disease for the British Heart Foundation with a target amount of £650! So every little bit will help and greatly appreciated!
With kind regards,
