On Monday 12th June we took 8 Y4 children to a swimming gala at The Towers. Despite some initial nerves, every child put all their energy into their swimming. Everyone swam in 2 individual races and 2 relays and after some great performances, St Peters came second overall which was a great result.
On Wednesday 14th June, 10 Y5/Y6 children attended a Kwik cricket tournament hosted by Sussex Cricket Foundation at Horsham Cricket Club. It was an exciting day. We were pooled with a group of tough sides but knew we had some strong cricketers so went with a very positive attitude and played as a strong team across the field. Our first game captained by Edward H was a win against Shelley school who had some strong batsmen but great wicket keeping from Felix M meant they did not get all the runs they were hoping for. We continued to play well in our second game against St Marys captained by Asmus who managed the field well and some strong hitting from Freddie and good bowling from Felix V gave the team another win. Our next name against Castlewood gave us another win achieved with strong fielding, a great catch from Conall and strong bowling from Oliver. The team made it to the quarter finals and the first game against St James was tough, but with strong fielding, Laurence on the boundary and a great catch from Max M, we had another win. The final game was against Holbrook and following a great catch from Max L and an overall polished performance from the team, they won and will now play in the County Finals. Well done boys.
On a very hot Monday 19th June, we hosted our annual cricket festival, welcoming our locality schools to a day of cricket. Our strong team played very well with a positive attitude and great cricket skills and performances. After 3 good games and 3 wins in very hot conditions, our last game was against Steyning which was tough but we maintained the continued high level performance and very positive attitude resulting in us keeping our the St Peters Cricket Tournament trophy. Congratulations to all who played.
On Wednesday 21st June, the hottest day of the year so far, we took 8 Y5 children to a Kwik Cricket Tournament in Southwater. For some of the children, this was their first time playing in a cricket match and was a great opportunity to learn more about the game. The children played 4 games and showed and learnt some good cricketing skills. Another well done.
On Thursday 22nd June, we took 22 children to the locality school Athletics tournament. All the children put in a brilliant performance and in all the events whether they were running, throwing or jumping put in their best effort. The scores were very close but despite some great running from all concerned, we came second overall which was a very good result.
