For many years I was a trader in the High Street and assisted in organising the Christmas shopping evening. I also observed the work of Mike Beardall who organised what was then a much smaller raffle. It makes me fully aware of the effort that the Henfield Community Partnership and BN5, with the participation of the High Street businesses, must have put in organising the very successful evening this December.
I felt someone should make our community aware of the tireless and selfless work that Emma Osman (of BN5 fame) and her amazing crew performed this year. The raffle, which is drawn on the evening, raised over £6000 for a very worthy charity with a local connection and was a record that will be hard to beat. Emma has such a community ethos and takes on local causes with passion. Bear in mind that all this organising goes on at the same time the BN5 and Thirteen8 magazines are being published, a full time job in itself. Also that the work for the event carried out by her team is funded by her. Many a long hour, often well out of office hours, was spent enlisting the support of advertisers and contacts who donated the raffle prizes, the value of which exceeded £3500.
On behalf of the Henfield community, sincere thanks for a wonderful evening and congratulations on the amount raised for The Brain Tumour Charity by the BN5 team.
