Heber Opera

Heber Opera Cover Photo
Heber Opera specialises in opera in the round sung in English. The performances have an immediacy that is unmatched in any other approach – the opera is truly close enough to touch.

Heber Opera was founded in 1989 by Roger Clow, primarily with the aim of performing English operas that have, for one reason or another, been neglected. As it has grown, Heber Opera has taken on more ambitious and better known works, but in specially prepared chamber versions that are presented in English. Performing ‘in the round’ ensures that the full dramatic flow of every opera is accessible to the whole audience.

Roger Clow retired at the end of 2015 but Heber Opera is continuing to put on high class performances under the Musical and Stage Direction of Michael and Dorothy Withers - both of whom have been part of Heber since its inception.
