What do we do?
We raise money for good causes, locally and further afield.
We meet socially as a group, enjoying informal meals out together, skittles
evenings, games evenings. Greyhound racing, or a simple chat and a drink in a pub.
Our aim is to raise money for good causes—we all enjoy doing this and
having a good time while we do it. We will give a warm welcome to anyone wishing to join us.
HOW DO WE FUNDRAISE?
As well as tea, coffee and biscuits we sell homemade cakes and our bacon
sandwiches freshly cooked to order sell well!
This is our main fundraising event of the year and is a popular and enjoyable
evening. Held usually in March, we invite another local charity to join us. It is a good way to get to know other charities and we are pleased to donate a good proportion of the monies raised to the helping charity. Over the last few years we have raised
over £16000 from our Race Nights.
We hold a jumble sale in Henfield Village Hall annually which is always well attended
We collect donations in Henfield, Partridge Green and Cowfold at Christmas. We also collect donations during Christmas week at the Holmbush shopping centre.
Summer Fetes and Fairs
We have our own coconut shy and ‘kick the football through the hole’ stalls and we take these to a variety of fetes and fairs during the summer. These family fundraisers are always fun – a chance also to watch dog shows, listen to brass bands, buy homemade jams and (hopefully!) enjoy the Sussex sunshine.
These are just some of our fundraising activities. New club members may bring new ideas and these are always welcome!
We meet once a month to discuss fundraising activities, donations of our funds, membership issues, correspondence and social activities.
These range from being as informal as a game of skittles at a local pub to our annual Charter Dinner and Dance. We have meals out in local pubs, visit other Lions Clubs, attend quiz nights, to name just a few.
It’s important to us to help those less fortunate than ourselves, both close to home and further afield. We also like to have fun whilst fundraising. We hope you will come and join us—you will be very welcome!
