The Haven opened its doors on Monday 23rd November 2015 and it is amazing how much has been achieved over the last 3 years. The birthday was duly celebrated by Lorette, her team and customers.
The undoubted success of the Haven has resulted in the available space no longer being able to accommodate all the activities and services we are being asked to provide. Hence the recent successful Big Lottery application for a grant to build an extension. Work is well ahead of schedule, and the "before and after" images are only a month or so apart.
The award of £65,000 doesn't cover the full cost of the extension and fittings, which is being supplemented by funds from the Friends of the Haven, our Patrons, supporters, volunteers and helpers. These have been raised through a variety of means, ranging from quiz nights, raffles, participation in Gardens & Arts Festivals and from this year's Pedal for Henfield event, which we shared with the Leisure Centre.
The extension will allow much more flexibility and scope in the services provided, while retaining unrestricted access to the grounds and gardens, including the Mini Haven.
Fully retractable glass doors here being installed, looking out to the gardens.

Action for Deafness
On a less positive note we are very disappointed and surprised that Action for Deafness (AfD) has decided to no longer provide hearing tests at the Haven which unfortunately means existing patients or new referrals having to travel to another location away from Henfield.
This decision was taken despite discussing with AfD (before the building work started) proposals to mitigate noise disturbance from the building work when hearing tests are in progress, but regrettably these were considered unacceptable. We are aware of false information being put about blaming Henfield Community Interest Company and Impact Initiatives for the closure, which is untrue.
As a result of AfD's decision we will be exploring how hearing tests can be maintained at the Haven after the extension is completed, which we expect to be early in the New Year.
