1st Henfield Scout Group has been delivering "Skills for Life" to the young and older people of Henfield for 113 years, through World Wars and previous pandemics!
That success continues to this day, even though we had to stop face to face Scouting in March, we were able to switch to delivering Scouting through the internet, utilising twice weekly Zoom meeting, facebook closed groups and our Online Scout Manager tools.
This proved successful, with as an example the Cubs earning over 200 badges between them during Lockdown!
But this success only happens through the success of all the adults that give up their time to enable the Scouting sections to deliver a balanced programme for the young people of activities, camps, etc through to the vital admin and maintainence tasks that keep the group running in the background.
Clearly nothing can happen without all these volunteers - the Leaders, Assistants, and the behind the scenes supporters that maintain the sections, the Group, the hut and grounds that all contribute to continue to make Henfield Scouting enjoyable for the young people of the village and surrounding areas.
As we start to recover from Covid and begin to have our plans approved for face to face section to Scouting resume we know we will need more help to deliver Scouting going forward - as we will have to operate in smaller groups. Therefore we urgently need new leaders and supporters - so if you were once a Scout, Cadet or Guide, a former leader, you are on a career break, a parent that wants to help their child do more, a young person wanting to volunteer as a young leader or just someone that want to start or continue volunteering in either a front line or behind the scenes support role then please get in contact. The Scout Association provides the DBS check and the training, with most now being able to be done online. Its also very good for your CV!
So could you volunteer, and by helping keep learning those all important Skills for Life!
