The UK was treated to the biggest supermoon of the year last night when the Super Pink Moon lit up the night sky. As if in celebration of the event it had apparently changed its colour.. We have all heard of the Harvest Moon and even a 'Blue Moon' but what is happening to our world now, with a PINK MOON?
In many cultures, including Native American tribes, people named the full moons throughout the year as a way to keep track of time. It's named after pink flowers called wild ground phlox, which bloom in early spring and appear throughout the United States and Canada. Other names for this April Full Moon in other parts of the world are Sprouting Grass Moon. Fish Moon, Hare Moon, Egg Moon and Paschal Moon.
