In these trying times when indoor sports are not available to us, an opportunity has arisen for the Henfield Leisure Centre to start some very important and essential maintenance.

The main hall is 30 years old now and is of a wooden base that has begun to lift and crack in several areas, it is unfortunately unrepairable as they have discontinued this type of flooring.

The hall is an intrinsic part of the centre and offers facilities for a number of different sports for different ages from junior to OAP and also provides facilities for the local school.

As Henfield Leisure Centre is a charity run organisation, they must rely on donations and grants to fund major projects. They applied to Sport England for their CAF Community Asset Fund, and were successful. Sport England awarded £40,000 towards the project. To make up the remainder Henfield Parish Council fully supported us with our application to Horsham District Council for a grant from the S106 monies arising from the St. Peter’s Meadow development.

We hope to start the project in August and this will take 3 weeks. The flooring will be of the new pulastic type that is extremely durable, long lasting and easy to maintain. At the same time we hope to replace the lighting in the hall.

Henfield Leisure Centre will keep you informed on the project, and also update you on opening dates and information on covid19 compliancy.

Yours in Sport

Gary Pettifer, Henfield Leisure Centre
