We are delighted to announce that our church magazine won another prestigious award at the National Church Magazine Awards, held in London on Saturday 22 June 2019. Helen Boosey, the editor, went to Westminster Central Hall at the invitation of the Association for Church Editors and took home the award for Layout and Design. She said ‘We were competing against magazines from across Britain, so we are delighted with our success.’
The Association for Church Editors gives training courses and editorial ideas to encourage churches to produce attractive and interesting local magazines. Awards were given at the London AGM for best covers, good layout, lively headlines, attractive graphics and appeal to the local community, plus a silver plate for the overall winner.
It is the second time our Parish Magazine has won an award as we last received a Certificate of Commendation in 2014 in the category ‘Appeal to a Wider Community’. Revd Paul Doick (Rector/Vicar of Henfield Parish and Dean of Hurst) said ‘Helen’s award builds on all the good things done by past editors including the increase in the number of pages offered and the move to colour. It’s all good news for our magazine.’ He went on to emphasis the current urgency to find an ‘advertisement manager’. An interesting voluntary task for anyone who is sociable and friendly and would like to be involved in getting to know the local businesses in and around Henfield and persuading them to advertise.
