You will find a huge variety of delicious goods, from fresh vegetables and award-winning homemade pies to cheeses, breads, gluten-free and organic ranges, and speciality groceries.
True to traditional farm shops, we also have our own friendly butcher, Paul Channon and his team, who provide the best local beef, lamb, pork, chicken and game.
Wherever possible, we source locally, reducing food miles and ensuring traceability. We complement this with fantastic products from further away, curating delicacies from artisan businesses and like-minded suppliers across the UK and beyond.
Come on over, and we hope you’ll see why we were named Sussex Food and Drink Farm Shop of the Year in 2015. Our shop is open seven days a week, from 9am till 5:30pm.
Here’s a taste of what we offer, all year round.
Fruit and Vegetables
Our fruit and vegetables reflect our commitment to locally sourced, fresh and seasonal produce. From crisp apples to leafy greens, our range extends to seasonal favourites such as English asparagus and strawberries, with many grown organically. We receive stocks daily from our suppliers, working with them to ensure the pick of the crop. We also keep packaging to a minimum, so you can touch, smell and pick out what you want from the produce.
Our deli is a delight. We make many products in our own kitchen, including our award-winning pies, quiches and sausage rolls. Encased in crispy pastry and packed with flavour, they’re just one reason why our customers keep coming back. Our counter also offers traditionally cured hams and charcuterie from top producers, as well as ranges of olives, olive oils, vinegars and other condiments and accompaniments.
Our cheeses span everything from the best Sussex varieties to British classics and Continental specialities. From soft goat’s and sheep’s cheeses to full-flavoured blues and hard cheeses, we’ve selected them to please the most discerning palates. Our offering changes seasonally, and our friendly and knowledgeable staff will help you choose with tasting samples and advice.
Whether it’s for a weekday supper or big Sunday roast, our butchery can make any meat dish sizzle. Headed by butcher Paul Channon, it serves fresh beef, pork, lamb and poultry from local farms passionate about provenance and animal welfare. Our beef is from Grange Farm in Poynings, and hung for 21 days for exceptional flavour. When in season, we also offer game such as pigeon and guinea fowl. Our butchery also makes our famous sausages in tempting varieties like pork and wild garlic and gluten-free Mediterranean herbs, as well as dry cured bacon and other delicacies.
Pastas and preserves, cereals and cakes, fresh sauces and free range eggs: our pantry stocks the best quality foodstuffs. Many are locally made, and all are chosen for their quality. Plus, we offer a full complement of gluten-free, organic, vegetarian and vegan foods that will pass everyone’s taste test. Come in to find everything from jams, pickles, pulses, relishes, marinades and flours to teas, coffees, chocolates, biscuits and tarts — you’ll be amazed at the variety.
Breads The aroma of freshly baked bread drifts through Rushfields every morning with our daily delivery from local suppliers. Everything in the range is made the traditional way, including crusty sourdoughs, rye breads, tin and seeded loaves and more. Come early and buy while the loaves are toasty warm!
Wines, Beer and Soft Drinks
Sussex is home to many wineries and breweries, so our shop is treasure trove for local gems of every variety. We offer wines and sparkling wines from acclaimed local vineyards like Bolney Wine Estate and Plumpton Wine Estate, plus classic and speciality beers from famous Sussex brewers Harveys, and artisanal producers such as the Long Man Brewery. A wide array of juices, cordials and mixes from names like Belvoir and Folkington’s wraps up our selection
