THE FRIENDS OF ST PETER’S, HENFIELD NEWSLETTER
SEPTEMBER 2017 Dear Friends! May I first of all introduce myself as the newly elected Secretary of The Friends of St Peter’s. Secondly, and most important, is to thank Susan Kendall, from whom I took over, for her tireless work as Secretary over the last 3 years. I am glad to say she is remaining on the Committee! Since the August Newsletter, the Friends held a very successful Summer Social Evening in the Garden Room at the Henfield Hall, when just over 50 people enjoyed an evening of fine cuisine together with some fun answering questions from three different quizzes. The Committee are busy planning future events.
OCTOBER Please note that the October Concert referred to in the August Newsletter will not now take place but we are delighted to announce there will be a talk entitled “ Can’t Pay, Won’t Pay” to be given by Peter Bates on Thursday 26th October in Church House at 7.30pm. Tickets will be £5, available from the Ticket Hotline 01273 492294 or Village Care. Please do support this event and bring your friends and neighbours! Peter is an entertaining speaker!
NOVEMBER sees the Friends of St Peter’s running the now famous Chocoholics Stall at the Charities Fair held in the Henfield Hall on Saturday 11th November. Yvette Croft masterminds the Stall for the Friends. Please call her on 01273 495856 if you are able to donate anything “chocolate” to this stall! Do come along and support the Stall on the day too! On Saturday 18th November, we will be holding a Coffee Morning in St Peter’s Church at 10.00am. We will begin with a demonstration from the Handbell Ringers, followed by a talk by Alan Barwick, Curator of the Henfield Museum on “Henfield during WWI”. Coffee and cake will be served and entry is free with donations welcome towards our Fundraising for the fabric of St Peter’s Church. That same evening, the 18th November, sees the Annual Henfield Village Quiz. FOSPH will be entering a team for this event.
2018 Looking ahead to the New Year, the popular Friends’ Brunch will be held on Saturday 13th January 2018. Further details will be available in our next Newsletter.
The Committee very much hopes you will be able to support these events and help us to publicise the important fundraising work done by FOSPH to raise money towards upholding the fabric of this beautiful and historic church which is so much a part of Henfield. If you know of anyone interested in becoming a Friend, please contact our Membership Secretary, Linda Beresford 01273 492497 or * email@example.com . Linda would also like to know of any changes in your own contact information so that we can keep our records up to date. Thank you! The Committee look forward to welcoming you to one or more of the above events but in the meantime, if you have any ideas / comments about future events which would be of interest, do not hesitate to contact me and I will pass your ideas on to the Committee! With all good wishes
Diana Halsey (Secretary)
