On Sunday 18th March, the South Eastern Region of the National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA) held their AGM and "2017 celebration Day" in the Playhouse Theatre in Whitstable.
The bitterly cold day was not conducive to any siteseeing around Whitstable but HTC had a very special reason to send representatives to the AGM. It was the day on which HTC were to be presented with their certificate acknowledging NODA'S Award for Excellence for the production last autumn of Billy Liar. The play which received an enthusiastic reception by its Henfield audience was directed by Ann Atkins a well known member of HTC. Billy Liar also collected the award for Best Director and Best costumes.
The ambience inside the beautiful theatre was extremely warm and NODA laid on an interesting day of entertainment, presentations and a workshop.
The formal proceedings were interspersed with short performances, by local groups, which were from shows such as Oklahoma, Kiss Me Kate, Spamelot, The Producers, Sweeney Todd and Les Miserables.
The highlight of the day, for us, was the presentation of the "Accolade of Drama Excellence", presented for Billy Liar. Ann went onto the stage to collect the certificate on behalf of HTC to loud applause.
